Canstruction 2012 Near South Creek Overland Park

Don’t miss this year’s Harvester’s Canstruction event—an exhibit at Ward Parkway Center that both showcases the creativity of Kansas City’s architects, engineers, and contractors and supports Harvesters Community Food Network. Fifteen construction teams will be showing off their “can-do” spirit by building structures entirely out of cans of food. Some of the themes from last year’s Canstruction included Angry Birds, Wizard of Oz, and Connect Four…so stop by the mall and see what clever ideas they will come up with this year!

All of the cans used in this event will be donated to support Harvesters, an organization that serves the Kansas City area by distributing food and other household products, as well as providing other services for those in need. The cans collected from this Canstruction event over the past eleven years have helped provide more than 440,000 meals to feed the hungry! Annual Trash Bag Fundraiser at South Creek Overland Park

The deadline is fast approaching to help out the community surrounding DDI Commercial in Overland Park by buying trash bags as a fundraiser for a local youth group. Every year Lee Summit’s Baptist youth group attends either a youth camp or a mission trip. This year, they are planning a mission trip that will most likely take them from Texas to Juarez, Mexico.

A participant’s mother describes the group as “a very well organized and well led group of high school aged young men and women,” and stressed that this mission trip is a potentially life-changing opportunity for these students to grow as leaders.

The trash bag sale is one of multiple events the group holds throughout the year to fundraise for their mission trip, and the money raised goes towards helping youths attend the trip who might not otherwise have the funds to take advantage of this opportunity. If you are interested in supporting their cause—or just needs a supply of trash bags—you have a few types of bags to choose from:
